​​We've introduced an earlier Prep enrolment timeline for 2026. This reflects feedback from families who wanted a more coordinated and transparent process across Brisbane Catholic Education schools when beginning their school journey.

​Parents shared that they often felt uncertain about when enrolment offers would arrive, how long they had to decide or where they stood on a waitlist. This earlier timeline is designed to address those concerns and create a smoother pathway into Prep.

Key dates for Prep 2027

Applications open: Now

Interviews: Weeks 5–8

Deadline for acceptance of first-round offers: Week 9

All other others: Terms 2–4​

"With all schools sending offers at the same time, parents can make decisions with confidence, without feeling rushed or pressured by competing dates," Holy Cross Primary School Principal, Simon Mahaffy said. 

This process also ensures consistency across schools, where demand for Prep spaces can be high. 

"A consistent process also reflects our commitment to fairness, dignity and respect, values at the heart of our Catholic ethos," Mr Mahaffy said.

Another benefit of the earlier timeline is better engagement. At Holy Cross Primary School, we begin connecting with families in the first few weeks of Term 1 through interviews and conversations that help build relationships and support each child's transition to school.

"This gives our families more time to meet teachers, attend orientation sessions and become familiar with our school environment and routines," Mr Mahaffy said. "This helps children feel calm, confident and ready for their first days in Prep."

As the term progresses, families receive updates and guidance about next steps, including waitlist movement if places become available.

Throughout the entire process, communication remains a priority. 

"Families won't be left guessing or waiting for long periods without information," Mr Mahaffy said. "There is a clear flow of updates designed to help parents feel informed, prepared and supported."
