​​​A joyful, confident start to Prep at Holy Cross Wooloowin.

​​Starting school is a big milestone, for children and families. At Holy Cross Primary School, we believe a great beginning starts before the first day of Prep.

Our FREE PREParation Program is designed to gently and joyfully introduce children to school life, helping them feel confident, connected and excited about their learning journey. Best of all, the program is open to all families​, whether or not your child will be attending Prep at Holy Cross Primary School.

​​What is the PREParation Program?

The PREParation program is a series of engaging, play-based transition sessions for children who will be starting Prep. Across three fun-filled visits, children experience what the school is really like – making friends, meeting teachers and exploring learning in a safe, welcoming environment.

At the same time, parents and carers are supported with practical information to help ease the transition into formal schooling.

What will your child experience?

Each session is thoughtfully designed to support school readiness while keeping learning enjoyable and meaningful. Activities include:

• ​Literacy and early language experiences
  
• Numeracy exploration
  
• Gross motor and physical development
  
• Social skills and friendship building
  

Through handson, interactive learning, children build confidence, independence and a sense of belonging, so those first days of Prep are filled with happy smiles and excitement.

Support for parents and carers

While children are busy learning and playing, parents and carers can take part in concurrent parent education sessions, focused on helping families feel prepared and reassured.
